| Comments: | I really only have one thing to say. Scott, does it really matter whether marlo and Brendon know what the lowered third of an Emaj is?? First off, no, Marlo dosen't know. But brendon does. Before you use other poeples' names to help justify your own insolence to music, you should think. Brendon, happens to be in Jazz band at Royal, not to mention the fact that for a semester, he was in the jazz band with Aguilar as the director. If you didn't know, Aguilar taught theory like crazy. How do I know? Because I was also in the same jazz band. BTW, a lowered third means you lower the third of the scale a half step. so, in the key of E major(4 sharps, F#, C#, G#, D#) you'd lower the third one half step. So your major chord would be, E(root), G#(3rd), B(5th). That's a major. Lowering the 3rd(making the chord minor) would now be E, G, B. and the chord is written out Emaj(b3).
